Depression is considered a psychiatric disorder, which is characterized by an inability to focus, lack of sleep, loss of appetite, anhedonia, feelings of extreme sadness, helplessness and hopelessness, guilt and thoughts of death. this is also termed as clinical depression.

The neurotic depression is a reactive depression, which has a clear-cut environmental factor that precipitates it. The cause of neurotic factor can be a death of a spouse, loss of job, failing in an exam.
