Skin is the vital organ of our body as it protects our body from all the foreign organisms and serves the vital protective and metabolic functions.

Unlike any other organs, the skin has a lot of disorders, some of these disorders are relatively benign and are corrected with little treatment and some of the disorders are of serious nature and takes a great deal of time to heal.

There is a disorder of the skin that appears on the face is acne. It is caused by the blockage of the glands of the skin and occurs as red spots on the face and are very painful. They are a big concern from the cosmetic point of view and a lot of individuals suffer from it. There are a lot of treatments available for acne such as Accutane, but this drug must be taken with great caution as it is fetotoxic and causes complications of pregnancy. Acne can also be treated through laser, which is safe.

Actinic keratosis is a precancerous growth that occurs due to sun exposure. It occurs mostly in people who are fair skinned. Approximately 1% of actinic keratoses develop into skin cancer known as squamous cell carcinoma. The actinic keratoses are therefore excised and biopsied to make a histological diagnosis of them.

Rash is the most common form of skin problem that occurs due to many reasons. The different types of urticaria are as follows, which are cold urticaria, pressure urticaria, cholinergic urticaria, urticaria caused by water, solar urticaria, contact urticaria etc. All of the individuals who suffer from urticaria, they must prevent theirselves from the things that cause urticaria in them such as water, sun, heat etc. Antihistamines are given as treatment for urticaria as it stops the inflammatory process and prevents redness and swelling.

Melanoma is a dark pigment, which usually arises in the skin as a malignant tumor arising from a melanocyte and occurs most commonly in the skin. There are about 53,600 people in the United States who are suffering from melanoma. Fair people are at a greater risk of developing melanoma. People having family history of melanoma are at greater risk. Melanoma is treated by excising the cancerous lesions of the skin.

There are a lot of other skin disorders, which are treated, but the most worrisome and lethal ones are the cancers of the skin.
