Childhood Diabetes and Its Possible Threats

Childhood diabetes is type1 diabetes. The child may have diabetes from birth itself. This disorder is caused due to decreased secretion of insulin in the body. Thus the blood sugar remains unutilized by insulin. The diabetes may remain unknown even at the teenage. But if several symptoms are concentrated upon may diagnose it even earlier.

Certain signs may indicate the presence of diabetes in children. If child's diabetes remains undiagnosed then there may be several hazardous consequences and sudden attacks may happen, which may be life threatening. Blurred vision, excessive thirst, frequent urination, increased appetite, weight loss etc are some of the common symptoms of diabetes.

For children who have not been diagnosed with diabetes, an attack could come on suddenly and, if not treated properly, could result in life-threatening consequences. Signs include extreme thirst, frequent urination, blurred in vision, increased hunger but weight loss, etc.

Around 30,000 Americans are diagnosed with childhood diabetes each year, of which 13,000 are children. If you feel your child has one or more of these symptoms, you must immediately contact your doctor.

Kidney problems, eye problems, low blood sugar threats, strokes etc are some of the threats that are faced by such children. Chances of gangrene also increase. The wounds also do not heal, as blood clotting is not proper. There is skin infection and ulcers. There is severe joint pain.
