Healing Trauma

Trauma is a state of emotional or mental shock that leaves the people lose his emotions or become out of control. The feeling is much like experiencing death and the instinctual feelings aroused are truly terrifying. It may lead to a disconnection occurring that takes one away from equilibrium and a balanced way of life. There will be imbalance and this will psychologically affect the person.

Trauma changes the person’s life and also has an adverse effect on their psychological outlook. They really change to a large extent. You can see alteration in the way they think and feel. It is very important that there is trauma healing and a lot of support is given to the patient both emotionally and morally. Trauma experience truly is horrifying and this situation must not be ignored.

There are many arguments put forth that claim that the only way of healing trauma would be to actively confront the trauma. There may be need to provide space for survivors to feel heard as well as to re-experience in a safe environment the terrible events that have traumatized them. However a goal of healing trauma should acknowledge the traumatic experience and integrate it into a kind of personal rebirth. It is important that the patient is listened attentively and the personality is reshaped.

Healing trauma may also contribute to social reconstruction programs and should focus on the victim. The main aim of healing trauma is to give victims a feeling that they once again control their lives, and a victim may need to go through three stages which are providing a safe space, feeling safe once again and getting their memories to be incorporated once again into normal everyday life routines. It is necessary to give confidence to the patient. Usually, the patient loses his identity while he is suffering from trauma and the main purpose of healing trauma is to make the patient live a very normal life all over again.

Women and children are the easy targets of trauma. Most often, healing trauma will target getting women back to normal life since they may be the biggest victims of traumatic events such as rape or incest. Women are very often humiliated, and may be left feeling that they have no control over the violence being done on them. Another target group that is often traumatized is children who desperately require healing of their traumas, and lacking in emotional development as well as life experience, are most vulnerable.

Trauma mainly is injury but rather than a physical one, the reference is mainly for the mental and emotional one. When some situation disturbs you or an event leaves you feeling helpless, you may encounter sudden mental and emotional injury. You may start feeling sad, anxious, angry, helpless etc. When you cannot do anything about such feelings and they really affect your life in a negative way, its time to seek help for this condition. You are under an intense trauma.

A trauma can make the foundation weak of one’s beliefs regarding safety, as well as shatter trust. It leaves you feel angry and helpless as you are not able to fight with a particular situation. Trauma is may lead you on the path of depression if you do not seek professional help at proper time. Trauma is a condition so far removed from what one expects that a traumatic event can provoke reactions that are strange as well as crazy, to say the least.
