Detoxifying Herbs: The theory is that when the liver becomes congested or sluggish, toxins are not filtered out of the body but instead get into the bloodstream which can show up as a skin problems like acne.

Tea Tree Oil is a widely used disinfectant and antiseptic that kills fungus and a broad range of bacteria, including the acne bacteria.

Black currant seed oil or evening primrose oil, three 500-milligram capsules a day daily for three months or until your acne clears up.

Burdock: boosts immunity and purifies the blood. You can take burdock in capsule form (follow the directions) or make a acne fighting tea.

Burdock (Herb) Tea for Acne

Steep a teaspoon of burdock in one cup of boiling water. Drink 1 to 3 cups a day for 1 to 2 weeks before your period if acne is related to your menstrual cycle. Continue for 3 months to 1 year, until the symptoms subside.

Yellow Dock: It has compounds called anthraquinone glycosides that stimulate bile production, aiding digestion and nudging a sluggish liver.

Yellow Dock (Herb) Tea for Acne

Like burdock, steep one teaspoon in one cup of boiling water. Or take 1/3 teaspoon of tincture in 8 ounces of water 3 times a day. It may take 3 months to 1 year to notice improvement.

It will give your skin a healthy glow as well. Note: Don't take yellow dock if you have kidney stones.

Chinese herbs cnidium seed and honeysuckle flower are prescribed for acne by Chinese herbalists.

Red clover is an herb suggested for chronic conditions affecting the skin.
