There are a lot of studies that are being conducted to determine the link between sleep and weight. Today our article is also based on this fact and we will discuss as to what are the findings of the link between sleep and weight. It is really important to note here that the problem of weight gain is a very common problem throughout the world and a lot of people are suffering from it. It is a very common finding and everyone knows it that when you are not having enough sleep at night, you have a terrible start of the day. It was found that the individuals who are deprived of sleep are the ones who show an alteration in the levels of these hormones and thus this puts them at risk of developing gain in weight. The sleep deprivation causes a disturbance in the balance of the feeling of hunger and fullness, which then leads to the eating at abnormal times as well as at higher levels than before. It was found that the people who are sleeping less than eight hours every day are the ones who see a trend in the increase of weight than the individuals who were sleeping close to or about eight hours per night.
Thos people who are sleeping less hours are the ones who do not feel energetic during the morning hours and they are not able to perform their daily activities with the mental alertness that it requires them to have. It is also found that the people who are gaining weight are the ones who are needed to follow a daily exercise program so that they are able to lose weight at a good pace, but since they are unable to sleep well, they are less energetic and they do not feel that they can exercise well and hence they do not get involved in doing exercise as part of a regular routine. Those people who have a good night sleep can make a pattern in their life where they are able to do their activities of daily living well and can exercise regularly too and it is not something that they have to push themselves to do it.
The researchers also pointed out that since where the number of hours are important in maintain a balance in the hormones, it is also important that these individuals have a good quality of sleep as well. Those individuals who are suffering from sleep apnea are unable to get good sleep and this is most commonly seen in individuals who have gained weight and it is with this problem that they are unable to get a good quality sleep and hence are prone to gain weight.
Another hormone that is linked with appetite, weight loss and weight gain is cortisol. The increased level of cortisol is the culprit in causing weight gain and thus prevents the loss of weight with its high levels present in the blood. The factors that cause increased levels of cortisol in the blood are the physical and the psychological stresses. At this day and age there are a lot of factors that cause increase amount of stress that the individuals go through and thus it makes it very difficult for the people to find a balance in their lives where they are able to keep really calm and smooth. The cortisol level also achieves really high blood levels when an individual is not taking adequate amounts of sleeping hours. When an individual is going through stress the body signals that there is increase loss of energy and this then makes the individual to eat in large amounts to level up the nutritional requirements as are being signaled by the increased level of cortisol secretion in the blood. In this case you need to see that there was no loss of excessive energy from your body and with the increased level of cortisol your body is signaling you to eat more to level up your energy requirements and you will do so by eating but if you see that the food that you are going to eat is not what yoru body actually needed but is something that is now going to be stored in your body in the form of fat.
This needs some immediate realization in the matter so that you can set the right patterns for yourself. You must know that you are not going to eat under the severe amount of stress even if your brain signals you for that. Another important thing is that this pattern in your life where you are sleeping less and in turn you are eating more is something that you have to cut down slowly. It is not something that you can just curtail in a day or two but it is something that will need you to have proper organization where you set your times when you go to bed, make a proper sleeping environment and list down all the possibilities where you can fix all the patterns appropriately and you will see that there will be a huge turn for good in your life.

Our brain is the seat of learning and it is where we have all our learning stored, we think and decide, we figure, understand, see, listen, sense etc. All these functions and more just make our brains a very unique organ. The current medical research has uncovered a lot of the diseases that are related to the brain where they just totally deteriorate the brain functions. Our brain is made up of billions and billions of cells and these cells are connected to each other through synapses and the communication of the nerve cells occurs through chemicals, which we also known as neurotransmitters. It is really important for us to understand that since the brain is such a vital organ and performs so many important functions, any clinical abnormality of the brain can lead to a disastrous situation, hence it is very important to save the brain from any outside or inside the body insults to prevent it from degenerating. It is really important to state here that once the brain cells are damaged it becomes near to impossible to cause regeneration of the brain cells.
There was a new research that was conducted by the scientists in which they have found out that there the neurodegenerative diseases such as HIV, dementia, Alzheimer’s, multiple sclerosis as well as Parkinson’s. The scientists said that when a brain goes through an inflammatory condition the process of thinking just makes the brain to become more prone to injury and this makes the situation more worse and this ultimately results in more damage to the brain. Scientists say that the process of learning and thinking and remembering things, which are the normal daily routines of an individual are something that is going to hurt the brain more if the brain is going through the degenerating illnesses. Scientists say the best bet here is to decrease the normal activities of the brain to bare minimum.

This excitatory activity then leads to the increased damage of the nerve cells in the neurodegenerative diseases of the brain. Therefore there are drugs that are made to lower down the excitatory effect of the amino acid, glutamate, to prevent the injury by blocking the glutamate, but this did not go well and the researchers kept on finding out as to how the excitatory activity really damages the functional capacity of the nervous system.
The researchers then moved on from their focus on analyzing the neurons to the dendrites that are the projections arising from the neurons and it is these that carry impulses from the nerve cell and makes a connection to another nerve cell through the synapses and causes the exchange of information from one neuron to another neuron. The diseases in which there is increased damage to the dendrites is seen in Alzheimer’s disease and HIV dementia in which the dendrites are seen with a characteristic finding of decrease in their size, beading, as well as loss of the spines of the dendrites.
The researchers then started to conduct experiments where they exposed the brain cells to the platelet activating factor, which is a compound that takes part in the working of the synapses, the activity related to the learning as well as memory. This platelet activating factor is also responsible for causing inflammation as well and is produced by neurons and also by the immune cells during the process of inflammation. It was found that the activity of the platelet activating factor increasing many folds in the neurodegenerative diseases.
It was then known by the researchers that the platelet activating factor was the one that promoted the beading of the dendrites and injured the synapses that occurred with the bursts of the synaptic activity. It was also stated that this mechanism of the deterioration of brain is implied by a number of diseases and this includes Alzheimer’s, multiple sclerosis, Parkinson’s along with any other neurodegenerative diseases that involve the synaptic dysfunction with inflammation.
These findings open up a whole new world for the drugs that can be made to treat these disorders and to lower down the process of inflammation and damage to the brain. The scientists gave an idea that the people who are suffering from the neurodegenerative disease, a specific chemical adaptation can be made in their brain cells that would prevent the injury from occurring in the nerve cells and hence would prevent excessive damage and ultimately loss of the nerve cells. The scientists said that the people will be more resistant to stressful situations with the chemical preconditioning and hence would be able to offer more resistance to the damage that takes place.
There is a drug that the researchers are talking a lot about these days is known as diazoxide to precondition the brain cells. Again if we go in the labs and see the experimentation that was being done, we will see that the nerve cells that were treated with the diazoxide and then exposed to the platelet activating factor, it was amazing to see that there was no beading effects caused by the platelet activating factor and thus it showed that the adaptations caused by the diazoxide makes the dendrites resistant to the changes caused by the insults. Therefore the scientists concluded through their research that it is important to make the cells withstand the injury by causing them to adapt rather to preserve the cell body.

How many of you have ever realized of what you are eating now? Have you looked at the constituents that your food has, like how much protein, how much carbs, how much fats, minerals etc. I think a lot of people are getting tuned to understand that how important it is that they look at the ingredients of the food that they are buying for themselves, but on the other hand due to the high rates and ratios of people getting obese and especially the kids it makes me think otherwise. The trends change with time and understanding of different things just turns into real time realizations when we are suffering from different health related issues. There are a lot of people who just do not care as to what they are eating unless they are hit by some gruesome illness.
Like for example, my uncle used to ate a lot of fried fatty foods and he was being told a lot of times as to curtail such kinds of foods but he never listened to anyone. He always said that nothing is going to happen to him and he is going to live long enough even if he eats such kinds of food. Well that just showed his ignorance and the way he was not caring for the things that were so much important for his health. He in his late 40s suffered serious cardiac related issues and then he had to eat all the fat foods because if he continued to eat that stuff then he was to lose his life. He had severe blocked coronary arteries and that just led him to a very critical situation in his life. He learned it the hard way.
I just always try to follow the right foods for me and my family because I am very cautious as to what I am eating and I just do not want to take any health risk for me or my family. It is very important for me to know as to what effects of the foods are going to be on me in different situations. There is a new world that we all need to explore and is something that is going to be the future of how we eat and what we eat. Have you ever realized that if you take too much of the carbs in the morning that you feel sleepy? When both of them have their meals, they are asked to sit on the table of chess to see as to how they are able to think the different moves, it was found out that the guy who had lots of carbs in his meals was the one who was taking time to make decisions and had to kick himself to think on the different moves of chess that he had to make. On the other hand the guy who had meat and plain vegetables was the one who was thinking very quick and was more confident in his moves.

There is this discussion going on these days where people are saying that there are specific meals for specific times, which when elaborated means that there are foods that one should eat when they are going to play a game such as basketball, baseball etc. so that they are going to energize them throughout the process. It is also being said that if you are going to eat foods that are high in carbohydrates during your date as well as high levels of alcohol then you might end up sleeping, which would be result of your choices that you select for yourself. You can select the foods that are according to the situations and will help you make the best out of your time. It is that slowly people are realizing the fact as to what are the things that they need to do in terms of selecting from the different food choices and what are the things that one should list down to buy when they are at the grocery store.
There was woman who was suffering from depression for a very long time and she thought that she should make different choices in her foods that she is eating and to her surprise she saw that there was a whole big change in her life that she saw after changing her diet in just two weeks’ time. This is something that really is amazing to hear that a person who is suffering from something for so long just finds a cure by changing her diet by making the right choices for herself. I think that we all can live a very healthy life just by making the right choices as to what we eat. According to this study it was found that the women who have gained weight in their adult life are the ones who are at increased risk of developing breast cancer after they have gone through their menopause as compared to the women who were overweight since childhood or during their teenage years. This was also told that the women who were quite thin during their childhood years and were the ones who gained a lot of weight during their adult years are the ones who are at the risk of developing breast cancer and this was very concerning as there are a lot of women who are gaining weight in their adulthood and were very thin in their childhood years.

The researchers collected the data from 3,345 women who were from the ages of 50 to 74 and were the ones who were suffering from invasive breast cancer and they then compared these women with 3,454 women who were of the similar ages and did not have any breast cancer. The researchers contacted these women and collected a lot of data from them through different parts of the country and interviewed them on the phone and asked different questions so that they have the complete information so as to compile the data for the research. They also asked them about their weight at different ages so that they could make reliable charts and graphs to assess the link between weight gain and breast cancer.
It was found that the women who were lean at the age of seven were the ones who were at the greatest risk of developing breast cancer than the women who had been obese at that age. It was also found that with the weight gain after the age of 18 was also a very strong predictor of breast cancer risk after the menopause. It was also found that the women who became menopausal at their early ages say 20 years earlier and who had gained weight of about 66 pounds since age 18 are twice as likely to develop breast cancer than women who have maintained their weight.
The researchers also added that if the women who have become obese in the later years are in the worst situation and are the ones who are at increased risk of developing breast cancer and they also added that the best way to reduce the risk is that one should maintain the weight because if these women go on increasing the weight, the risk of developing breast cancer increases and this process can just turn out to be very fatal. Therefore maintaining the weight or getting it lowered is the most important thing that is needed. There was another study in which it was suggested that the breast cancer in about one sixth of the post menopausal women can be averted just by avoiding excess weight gain as an adult. In another study the researchers also added that exercise can also decrease the risk of breast cancer to a great extent. Therefore it is very important that the women in their adult years who have been gaining weight must take a strong check of their diet and exercise and should know the relation of this with the breast cancer and must work on either maintaining the weight or decreasing it so that they can have a healthy life.
The researchers have added that the women who have gained weight through their life and especially gaining weight around their abdominal area are the ones who are at an increased risk of developing breast cancer. There was also another research conducted in which there were 87,000 women ranging in the ages of 30-55. These women were being followed for over a period of about 26 years so that they could assess their weight change during adulthood. There were overall about 4,393 of the women who developed invasive breast cancer. The researchers brought to light the fact that the women who gained about 55 pounds or more since 18 years of age were about 45% more likely to develop breast cancer as compared to the women who maintained their weight. They also added that the women who gained about 22 pounds since menopause were also at an increased of the disease compared to the women who maintained their weight.

This article will be focused on the relationship between sleep and memory, as there are evidences that the sleep affects memory and this can truly bring a huge change in the lives of people who are complaining of affected memory. In this article we are also going to discuss the different phases of sleep and their significance so that we can better understand the sleep patterns.
We all know that our sleep has two phases, one is known as Non-REM and the other is REM, whereas REM stands for rapid eye movements. It is being understood that the rapid eye movement sleep is a phase in which there are a lot of functions that are performed, which include development and restoration of the brain, synthesis of the neuro-proteins, as well as the coordination of the eye movements. To better understand REM we can learn that it is a phase that of sleep that occurs late in the sleep cycle and in this the brain and the body both become pretty active and in this phase there is also increase in the heart rate and the blood pressure. You might have seen people who while sleeping are moving their eyes pretty fast and you can know that they are in the rapid eye movement phase. It is in this phase that there is increase in heart rate as well.
If there is EEG, which is electroencephalography performed in the individuals who are going through a rapid eye movement, we will see that there brain wave patterns are very much alike a person who is awake and in these waveforms are a lot of beta rhythms. This period of sleep is also known as the dream phase where the individual is seeing the dream and this is the phase where the most dreams occur. The scientists Roffwarg and Musio, as well as Dement were the first ones who suggested that the rapid and repetitive firing of the neurons during the rapid eye movement sleep is associated with the growth of neurons, as well as their development. This concept then lead the foundation of the theory of dynamic stabilization in which it was mentioned that the information, which is either inherited or learned is being consolidated during the repetitive firing of the neurons in rapid eye movement sleep, which can have the same effect on memory as function use. Therefore it was concluded that the rapid eye movement consolidates the learning.
There was another experiment in which the scientists just paired the audible tones during the rapid eye movements in sleep of rats and when these audible tones were played during their wakefulness periods it showed that the rats were displaying the same learned behavior and it showed that those tones became a part of the memory and were displayed during the wakeful period. Therefore the individuals who have deprivation of rapid eye movement are the ones who show lack in memory and also perform poor in the memory tests of recall and logical tasks. Therefore the students who go through extensive studying during their examination must have good hours of sleep so that the information that they are going through becomes a consolidated part of their memory and if they will not go through a good night sleep then they will find that their memory will be affected and the knowledge that they have been going through from the books will be affected and will not be structured as they had learned them and will be lost in patches and will not be completely consolidated.
Therefore there are very strong evidences through these experiments that sleep aids memory and when a person goes through learning information in a day and that is combined with adequate sleep, then that individual is more likely to remember that information for a longer period of time. There were a lot of other experiments conducted by different researchers and in an another experiment there were about 60 healthy individuals who were sleeping at night and these individuals were asked to remember about 20 pairs of random words that include blanket and village.
One of the groups were given time to learn from nine in the morning till nine at night and they were not allowed to take any naps. There was another group who were given the words and they started to learn them from nine in the night and were given a time till nine in the morning and it was found that the individuals who slept for the night were the ones who were able to simply outperform their counter parts. The statistics showed that there were about 94 percent of the individuals who slept for the entire night recalled the words accurately whereas the other group made to about 82 percent who were able to recall the paired words.
Therefore through these different researches it has been very clear that a lot of people who are experiencing a decline in memory must have a good night rest and they will see that their memory will start to get better along with time and they will see that they have actually made a great deal of improvement in terms of remembering things that are of great importance that we have to do every single day.
