Why and for what would I take this medication?

This medication is common treatment arthritis in its most severe form.  This medication is used to aid in pain management for those who suffer from the severe form of this degeneration.  There have been some promising results when patients use this medication and many have reported a much improved quality of life.  This is very good news for the doctors that have long been searching for a way to help their patients deal with the pain that is associated with arthritis.  More often than not, the patients that are being treated with this medication are stating that they have increased movement and more energy without severe pain.

The fact remains that arthritis in its most severe form is quite common in this day and age and people are struggling to find a way to manage the pain.  This has come in the form of many medications that have been tested in recent years, with this one being the most promising.  Thanks to the efforts of the hundred of researchers who have spent years trying to find a cure or beneficial treatment for this disease.

How should I take this medication?

The most common form of this medication is administered by way of injection.  This is done under the supervision of the prescribing doctor.  The medication is injected right into the affected areas and helps to solve the swelling problems that are so many times the cause of the patient discomfort.  At this time, only a doctor can administer this medication as it has yet to be approved for home use.  The companies that make this medication are working on a home injection form of this medication but that is still years in the making.

Most often, the patients that are being treated with this medication are required to return every thirty days for more treatment as the effects begin to wear off.  This has shown great improvement over the standard medications for this disease as they are normally in pill form and takes an extended period of time to begin working as the pill form must first be absorbed into the blood stream by way of the stomach.  The doctors have seen the benefits of the direct injection method.

The standard treatment for this disease is cortisone but there are studies that have shown that severe mental disease can become apparent with extended use of that particular treatment.  This is the newest form of that drug and so far has shown no adverse effects in the area mental function.

Should I be concerned about interaction with my other medications?

As with all medications, there is the risk, although small, that it could interact with other medications that a patient is taking.  Because of this risk, it is important for you to inform your doctor of any and all medications that you are currently taking or have taken recently.  This will give the doctor a good picture of any possible adverse effects of taking this medication with the other medications that you are taking.  You should also inform him or her of the over the counter medications and vitamins that contain herbs that you are taking.  Some of these items can cause allergic reactions in persons who are taking this medication.

Always be sure to tell the doctor if something changes.  If you feel any different, good or bad, it could be a sign of something serious and the doctor will want to make any necessary changes.

Are there any side effects associated with this medication?

During the clinical trials of this medication, some patients reported some minor side effects that were little more than bothersome.  This does not mean that you will not discover some other side effects that have yet to be discovered.  If this occurs then you should contact your doctor immediately to determine if you should continue taking this medication.

Most commonly reported side effects were headaches, fever, increased thirst and overall drowsy feeling.  Most of these side effects went away in ninety percent of patients with the continuation of treatment and have never been directly linked to the actual medication itself.
