Hydergine Drug: Information, Side Effects

What is Hydergine?

Hydergine is used to treat patients who are suffering from dementia and the effects of medical conditions such as Alzheimer’s disease and strokes. Hydergine is used to treat the mood and behavior changes that these conditions may produce.

Hydergine increases blood supply and oxygen to the brain. This and other effects of Hydergine can enhance memory, learning, and recall of the mind. This helps to combat the symptoms that dementia and other medical factors that damage the memory centers of the brain can produce.

How to Use Hydergine

Hydergine is given in prescription form by physicians as capsules or tablets to be consumed by mouth orally, or in a solution (liquid form) that is taken orally.  In some cases, tablets of Hydergine that are dissolved under the tongue (sublingual) are prescribed to patients. These types of tablets should not be chewed or swallowed, but thoroughly dissolved under the tongue. This form of Hydergine is actually much more fast-acting than ingested or consumed forms. You should not eat, drink, or smoke while a sublingual dose of Hydergine is in the mouth.  Usually, a dosage of 1 to 2 milligrams to be taken three times a day is prescribed.
