What is Feldene?
            Feldene is an anti-inflammatory drug also known as Motrin or Advil. It is used to treat muscle aches and sometimes fever.

How to take this medication
            Swallow this medication whole wit ha large glass of water to help you swallow it better. If you have trouble swallowing or on a feeding tube ask your doctor how you can take this medication. This medication can be taken with or without food, if it causes your stomach to become upset it would be best for you to take it with a meal or a snack. It can also be taken with an antacid to cure your stomach upset or prevent it from happening. Also taking this medication with milk will coat your stomach and keep you from getting stomach upset. Do not lie down for at least 30 minutes after taking this medication. If you take this medication for a migraine and the pain does not go away in the first dose call your doctor right away before thinking about taking another dose, your doctor will tell you to take another dose if he thinks it is right for you to take it. If he thinks it is not right for you he might tell you to come into the office to have you checked to see what else can be done for you. If you miss a dose take it as soon as you remember it if it is almost time for the next dose skip it and go back to your regular schedule.
Side effects of this medication
            There are many different side effects to this medication some can be serious and some cannot. Serious side effects of this medication can include any of the following:

  • Stomach pain
  • Swelling of feet or legs
  • Ringing in your ears
  • Bleeding
  • Sore throat
  • Fever
  • Tightness in chest

There are also rare but also very serious side effects that you should be aware of, if you experience any of the following symptoms stop taking this medication and call your doctor right away:

  • Black stool
  • Vomit that looks like coffee grounds
  • Color change of urine
  • Severe stomach pain

There are also common side effects to which consist of any of the following:

  • Drowsiness
  • Headache
  • Diarrhea
  • Constipation

If any of this symptoms become bothersome talk to your doctor to see what can be done about them.
Precautions when taking this medication.
            Tell your doctor if you have a history of kidney problems, liver problems, stomach problems, or heart problems. Especially if you have ever had a heart attack or have been diagnosed with heart failure. Also tell your doctor if you have high blood pressure or any kind of bleeding disorder. Also tell your doctor if you have any respitory problems such as asthma or emphysema. Also do not take this medication if you are pregnant if you might become pregnant talk to your doctor to see how long u can take this medication for before you become pregnant. Also talk to your doctor about breast feeding asks him if it is safe or if the medication will pass through the breast milk into the babies system. And if it will cause harm to the baby.  Be careful while driving because this medication can cause drowsiness and also be careful when doing any activities that need you to be alert until you know how this medication will affect you. Be careful not to get too much exposure to the sun while taking this medication. Wear protective clothing and enough sunscreen.
Food and drug interactions with this medication
            Some of these drugs may interact with this medication so tell your doctor if it is safe to take it with any of the following:

  • Anti-depressants
  • Pain relievers
  • Allergy meds
  • Sedatives
  • Anxiety meds
  • Muscle relaxing meds

Be sure to tell your doctor about nay meds that you are taking so that he can see if they will interact with this medication or not. Tell your doctor all medications you are taking and do not start taking others with out talking to your doctor first. There are no known food interactions when taking this medication but if you feel that it cause strange symptoms when you eat a certain foods talk to your doctor about it to see what can be done. If you see a pattern when eating a certain food and taking this medication stop eating that food until you have talked to your doctor about it. Tell your doctor if you are also taking any medications for ulcers or other stomach problems.

In case of an overdose.
            If you feel you or someone else has taken an over dose call poison control or go to your local emergency room right away. It is not known to cause death if taken an overdose but there is a possibility of it so it is best to go to your local emergency room if you feel you have taken an overdose.
