Depitol:

Generic Name:
It is a form of carbamazepine and the medicine is slowly released in human body. It is used for treatment of epilepsy and should be used for tratment of seizers and nervous systems.

Precautions:

  • All precaution should be taken while prescribing this medicine for elderly people.
  • If you are pregnant, plan to pregnant or are breast-feeding, consult your physician before taking depitol.
  • You should avoid intake of alcohol, which may increase the risk of seizers.
  • If you are a patient of epilepsy, you should carry an identification card mentioning all your details, including the prescribed medicine and phone number/ address of healthcare centre.
  • Sometimes the combinations of medicines, if taken together may interact, so if you are taking any other medicine or herbal product, inform your doctor before starting the medicine.

 

Warning:

  • If you are on depitol, you should carry out regular checkup.
  • The depitol is not advisable prescribe children below 18 years of age. So consult your doctor before taking this medicine.
  • Avoid drinking alcohol while you are on depitol.
  • If you are on depitol for a long time, you should not drop it immediately, as it may cause the risk of more seizers.

 

Overdose:

  • If you have taken an overdose of the depitol, you should consult your doctor immediately.
  • If you further observed any side effects, as mentioned below, you will need medical help.

 

 

How to take:

 

  • Depitol should be taken only if prescribed by a doctor.
  • Take the appropriate dose as prescribed by the doctor. The depitol capsules should be taken after food.
  • If you have skipped one dose, try to take your next dose at regular schedule. Do not take double dose.

Side Effects:

  • The common side effects of depitol are pain and redness in mouth, blisters and sometimes mouth ulcer, sore throat, convulsions, tremor, nausea, muscle weakness, difficulty in breathing, loosening of skin and skin rashes.
  • The less common side effects include stomach related problem, liver related problems, weakness in bones & joints.
  • If anyone of these cases is observed in the patient, you must call doctor immediately.

 

How to store:

  • The drugs should be stored in a safe place at room temperatures, and out of reach of children. These medicines should be kept away from excessive heat and moisture.
  • Outdated medicines should be thrown out.
